Mike Fahn was born in Queens, New York in 1960, and was raised in Huntington,
Long Island. His father, who is a jazz drummer was a big influence on Mike.
Mike started on trumpet, and then to baritone horn. After high school, Mike
moved to Los Angeles and began working as a professional musician playing
slide and valve trombones. In 1993 , Mike moved back to New York. |
| He has had professional engagements with such jazz stars as Maynard
Ferguson, Dizzy Gillespie, Al Hirt, Chet Baker, Freddie Hubbard, Ira Sullivan,Tom
Harrell, Jack Sheldon, Tom Kubis, Shorty Rogers, Randy Brecker, Bill Mobley,
Don Menza, Bob Cooper, Bill Perkins, Bill Pierce, Rick Margitza, Donny McCaslin,
Don Braden, Ted Nash, Frank Gambale, John Hart, Pete McCann, Steve Cardenas,
Jeff Tain Watts, Ralph Peterson, Dick Berk, Louie Bellson, Peter Erskine,
Lenny White, Tony Reedus, Albert Tootie Heath, Jerry Gibbs,Terry Gibbs, Eddie
Daniels, Billy Childs, Donald Brown, Frank Strazzeri, James Williams, Andrew
Hill, Diana Krall, Jay Anderson, Robert Hurst, David Friesen, and John Patitucci.
Mike recorded his debut C.D. with John Patitucci and received good reviews
for his work. He has toured in Switzerland playing with the Frank Gambale
group.
Mike also toured France where he was appearing with the Bill Mobley Quintet
featuring Donald Brown and Lenny White. Mike has appeared with the pianist
Andrew Hill and his 11 piece band at the Jazz Standard in New York City.
He also has played at the Monterey Jazz festival with his own quintet, and
as a member of the Tom Harrell Big Band. Mike is also a member of
Trumpeter-Composer Bill Mobleys big band, who recently recorded a new
CD for the Space Time Label.
