Publisher's Summary: Harvey Fierstein currently stars as Edna Turnblad in the hit musical Hairspray. He made his debut at La MaMa in 1971 in Andy Warhol's Pork, followed by more than 60 Off Broadway plays, including work with The Playhouse of the Ridiculous, Negro Ensemble Company, WPA, and Theater Genesis. For his Torch Song Trilogy, Mr. Fierstein won two Tony and two Drama Desk Awards (best play and best actor in a play), an Obie, a Dramatists Guild Award, and was nominated for the Olivier. He won his third Tony Award for the book of La Cage aux Folles in 1984. He has made over 30 movie and television appearances, is a regular contributor on PBS's In the Life and has recently published a children's book, The Sissy Duckling.Moderator Jesse McKinley is a New York Times culture reporter and writes the weekly On Stage and Off column.
