Publisher's Summary:

On March 15, 1941, U.S. President Franklin D. Roosevelt urged support for Britain in its ongoing war with Germany. Just 2 days before, FDR signed the Lend-Lease Act, authorizing war supplies to Great Britain and France. FDR likened the proposal to lending a garden hose to a neighbor whose house is on fire. Later that year, the fire would spread when the U.S. declared war on Japan, following a Japanese surprise attack on Pearl Harbor. America would now officially be part of the 2-year strong Second World War.
